Salt and Ash - Seaside BBQ

Rendezvous in St. Margaret's Bay

The last event of our first year of ministry was held on the Higgs' property on St. Margaret's Bay. Our guest speakers were from the Helm Recovery Center in Glen Haven, just across the bay from the the property. The salt air made for great appetites as we enjoyed tasty hamburgers and hot dogs hot off the grill with all the fixings!

Navigating Recovery with God at the Helm

Kevin Bravolich, Founder and Director of the Helm Center shared his experience as a young man in British Columbia, falling into addiction even though he was a new believer and successful business owner. Graduate residents from the Helm, Matt and Tyler added their testimony as well to God's relentless pursuit through circumstances and people that led to them to the Helm and to Jesus.

Spiritual Strength

We closed with a time of reflection on how all Christians are in a recovery program from our addiction to sin. God pursues us according to His steadfast love, putting circumstances and people in our lives who share how they came to a saving knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Though we didn't know it at the time, the awareness of sin's destruction is a matter of life and death. God is good and He demonstrates His steadfast love, faithful promises and amazing grace to us each day.

As men, we need to be careful to not assume we have sufficient will or self-motivation to keep us on the path of our recovery or sanctification. We need to acknowledge we all have need of the Holy Spirit to convict our hearts of sin, righteousness and judgement. We need a genuine assessment of our need and grateful hearts for God's supply.

If you know anyone who is suffering from addiction and in need of recovery in Nova Scotia, please feel free to reach out to the Helm Recovery Center @ thehelmcenter.ca
